Please come back for updates
Hello Everyone,
We have been getting a lot of inquiries about camp and wanted to update you all on the current camp situation. At the end of last year, Camp Bird (the campground) reached out to us to inform us about a price increase for using the camp ground going forward. The price increase is to compensate rising costs of campground upkeep because of inflation and because they haven’t been raising the rates over the last 20 years enough to keep up with costs. While we understand their need to raise prices, the price increase and pricing structure change that they made, would increase our costs for staying at camp bird by more than 100% and we would have use of less of the campgrounds for that much increased price. In light of this, we are unable to run camp at Camp Bird this year. BLBA doesn’t want to give up on camp, it has been a very impactful week for campers and workers alike to encounter Christ and grow in their walk with the Lord.
We have looked at several other campgrounds to see if we could run our camp the way we do camp at Camp Bird, at a different location. Unfortunately we haven’t found a campground where we can do that. Camp might look a little different this year, if we can pull something off.
Last year was a very good year and ended in such a way that we wondered what God was up to in a very positive way. We know that God is in control and that He knows what comes next for camp. It has been a wonderful blessing to serve at camp for the past 25 years and at Camp Bird campgrounds the past 19 years. Unfortunately some health issues and other life situations have made it where Karridi and I can no longer serve in camp in the same capacity we have been serving in all these years. It is sad, but exciting to see what God has in store for this next chapter of camp.
Guy Fredrick will be taking the lead to find new leadership and direction as BLBA looks for a solution for camp. This will be no easy task, and we would like you to pray about helping. If you feel God calling you to, please contact Guy Fredrick.
Thank you for all the love and support you have shown over the years.
Love you all,
Joe and Karridi Kelly
